The most common source of this error is someone manually editing their WinVN.INI file and changing the GENSOCK.DLL line to something like WinSock.DLL. Gensock.DLL (or GenAsync.DLL) are NOT the same thing as Winsock.dll (they are WinVn's DLL's that call your WinSock.DLL). If that isn't your problem, the next most common source of this error message is if you have multiple (incompatible) WinSock.DLL's in your path. (perhaps one in your Windows directory and one in your network providers directory, both from different sources). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Dumoulin INTERNET: DUMOULIN@TITAN.KSC.NASA.GOV NASA / Payload Operations SPAN/HEPnet: KSCP00::DUMOULIN Kennedy Space Center Florida, USA 32899 "The World needs SPACE to grow" From dumoulin@titan.ksc.nasa.gov Thu Oct 26 17:33:12 1995 Date: Sun, 22 Oct 1995 12:30:28 -0400 Message-ID: <9510221630.AA24842@titan04.ksc.nasa.gov> From: Meredith Minkley Reply-To: minkley@enterprise.america.com Subject: WinVN Form (Comment) X-Real-Host-From: ariel.ppp.america.com Sender: owner-winvn@news.ksc.nasa.gov Precedence: bulk Path: niven.ksc.nasa.gov!mail2news.py Newsgroups: mail.winvn Approved: mail2news.py Lines: 15 Configuration Information: -------------------------- Version: 0.99.6 16 Bit Winsock Stack: not sure I have Trumpet Winsock 2.0 but haven't been able to get it configured properly. If the tape recorder is broken, then 50% of the science objectives can still be accomplished. This includes 100% of the probe data and 150 to 300 high resolution images. The tape recorder will be tested on Galileo this weekend, and we'll know more early next week. ___ _____ ___ /_ /| /____/ \ /_ /| Ron Baalke | baalke@kelvin.jpl.nasa.gov | | | | __ \ /| | | | Jet Propulsion Lab | ___| | | | |__) |/ | | |__ Pasadena, CA | You can never do merely /___| | | | ___/ | |/__ /| | one thing. |_____|/ |_|/ |_____|/ |
