When a boot loader is run, does it go into protected mode, or does it fist
load the kernel and then the kernel goes into protected mode?

Are there any good places to get info on NATIVE LINUX partitions, i.e.
supper block, were the I nodes are located, how to decipher the bits to
dentine were the next piece of a file is?

Can ne 1 point me to some good resource for writing a boot load, I already
have the grub source, and a couple misc files, but not anything really in
depth.
