This is Big Brother 1.2, a shareware WWW link checker for the
Macintosh.

Big Brother features:
 - Checks documents off your hard disk or fetches them from a server
 - Follows links, so a whole site can be checked in one fell swoop
 - Blazing speed - checks dozens of links concurrently
 - and a lot more...

Big Brother requires the Thread Manager (which is part of System 7.5).

Subject: [*] Log Watcher 1.1.4 68k (Server utility)

Log Watcher is a useful utility for everyone running a Macintosh Server.
Log Watcher shows the logs generated by your server displaying them
continuously and updating them on the last version saved without manual
action. In this way you can have always on screen the last info. Without
Log Watcher, using a common text processor, you should re-open the file
every time the server appends new info. Furthermore Log Watcher can read
and show only the last desired portion of logs, doing a very fast work.
It can automatically scroll the window to the bottom and can use desired
font/size to show logs. Logs are always opened as read-only without
interfering with server read-write operations. Log Watcher uses Apple
Guide Technology to provide help to users. This version 1.1.4 was stress
tested to eliminate bugs. Available both for 68K Mac and Power Mac.
Inclusion in CD allowed. Full info at http://www.kagi.com/panetta

Subject: [*] netbots-201

Note to readers: This version replaces the version that was uploaded to
Macgifts a few days ago. By popular demand, I've eliminated the
RegisterBot that pops up to annoy you into registering (partially because
there was a small bug in the RegisterBot). Now it's pretty much on the
honor system. Enjoy!

Attached is NetBots 2.0, a shareware Internet agent program for Mac OS.
In 1996, NetBots gave system administrators and end users a powerful way
to accomplish tasks on the Internet without human intervention. NetBots
2.0 builds on the capabilities of the previous version with the following
new features:

   - enhancements to the standard PortBot, PingBot, and FingerBot
   - an all new WWWBot that will check for web page updates
   - support for the /robots.txt web crawling security standard
   - concurrent execution of bots through the Thread Manager
   - AppleScript support so bots can talk to other applications
   - a new "Bot Manager" acts as a visual representation of the bot queue
   - more options for controlling the behavior of bots
   - totally redesigned interface and friendlier documentation
   - 50% more bevels!

NetBots 2.0 is a useful tool for web surfers, system administrators, and
anyone who uses the Internet on a daily basis. It can help you monitor
remote hosts, alert you when a friend logs in, send you email when a site
becomes available, reload a page when it changes, and much more.

NetBots is available for download immediately from the KlepHacks web site
at:

NetBots 2.0 was written by Scott J. Kleper, a sophomore at Stanford
University. The program is shareware. After a brief evaluation period,
the user is asked to pay a fee of $15 using the included "Register"
application. Inquiries and suggestions are welcome via email to
<klephacks@kagi.com>

Product Name : SmartMap
Product Vers.: 1.0.1
Author : Digital Prairie, Inc.
Home Page : http://www.digitalprairie.com/
Shareware Fee: US$20
Requires : W*API 1.1-compatible MacOS web server

This update to SmartMap fixes a bug which prevented access to SmartMap's
admin URL when "virtual domain" plug-ins such as Jon Stevens' ClearlyHome
are also being used.

Description :
Yet another imagemap plug-in for WebSTAR, but it has features available
nowhere else. Automatic recognition of both NCSA and CERN map file
formats, support for rectangles, polygons, circles, ovals, points, and
default hotspots, and it returns local target files without HTTP
redirection. It even filters HTML files to convert server-side imagemaps
to client-side imagemaps automatically!

This is the Japanese version of the URL Manager Pro package.

URL Manager is a repository for your favorite Internet addresses or URLs
(Uniform Resource Locators). URL Manager allows you to organize and collect
URLs in a hierarchical structure. Organizing bookmarks between and within
folders is easy with Drag & Drop. Drag HyperText links from your Web Browser
to the URL Manager window to add a URL to the repository. To access a URL on
the Web, Drag & Drop a bookmark to the window of a Web browser or double
click. URL Manager is Internet Config savvy.

URL Manager Pro adds tight integration with Navigator, Explorer, Anarchie,
Fetch, Claris Emailer and Eudora. With URL Manager Pro you can add bookmark
menus to the menubar of these applications. Also, URL Manager Pro adds the
URL Manager shared icon menu to the menubar. With this menu you can create
bookmarks for Web Pages from --within-- Navigator/Explorer, Add Notes, Grab
All URLs on a Web Page or in an E-Mail message, Explore the Internet with a
predefined set of Search Engines or start you PPP session with the Open PPP

URL Manager Pro can validate the URLs of your bookmarks.

[remainder snipped]

Claris Emailer 2.0 will decode QP text very easily through the use of an
AppleScript available at the FogCity Software site
<http://www.fogcity.com>. I use it several times a day.

Among Text Editors, Tex-Edit Plus 2.0.x also uses AppleScripts for a
variety of functions. I modified the Decode QP Text script from Emailer
to work with TE+. I also saw a previous post regarding a TE+ script
available at <http://www.arrakis.es/~jorgesc/restorer.html>, but I
haven't downloaded it yet.

Subject: Telnet Server for mac...

I'm looking for any sort of MacOS-based program that I can use for a
telnet server, sort of like logging into a Unix box but with the warm
feeling of knowing there's a mac there somewhere. Script Daemon won't cut
it.
I have looked into MkLinux, and cannot use it for the sole reason that it
will not run on an upgrade card. Otherwise, I'd use that and be happy :o)

TIA..

Subject: Unknown sad mac code

Howdy,

I am trying to resurrect an SE (w/superdrive).

In trying to set it up, It responds with the following sad mad code (that I
cannot find an explanation for);
                        0000000F
                        00000021

Another symptom appears as horizontal lines (non-raster) across the screen
that do not interfere with the mac face.

Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks in advance.
