MicNotePad 3.99 - Speech Recording Software for Macintosh Computers.
Ideal for Transcription. You can put the MicNotePad application program
file anywhere on your hard disk. We recommend to place the MicNotePad
application program file in the Apple Menu Items folder in the System
Folder on your startup disk. Alternatively you can run MicNotePad from
the floppy disk, if you don't want to put it on a hard disk. For the
extensive on-screen help (i.e. manual), press Command-?. Balloon help
is available. Recording quality depends very much on the microphone
used, also on the environment.

Subject: [*] black-night-conn-tools-103.sit

A set of Communication ToolBox Connection Tools for use with CTB-aware
application such as ClarisWorks and the Black Night Terminal Application.

The set includes Serial, Modem and Telnet tools. The Telnet tool is very
robust and supports binary file transfers (e.g. ZMODEM over the
internet). The Modem tool is self configuring for most modems and hence
is very simple to set up and both the Serial and Modem tools support DTE
speeds up to 115200 and 230400 bps.

The Connection Set is free to all registered users of the Black Night
Terminal Application, although the Modem and Telnet tools may also be
registered on their own.

The entire package may be included on the info-mac CD-ROM and it should
be archived in the "info-mac/comm/ctb/" directory and should replace the
file "black-night-conn-set-101.hqx". For more information please contact

Subject: [*] CopyThru v2.4

CopyThru v2.4 makes duplicates of HFS volumes with the option of segmenting the
copy through a fixed (or simply not-removed) volume. In other words, it is a
multi-pass block copier for removable media.

CopyThru fills up your hard drive (or as much of it as you permit to be
filled-up) with blocks, ejects the source volume, requests the destination
volume, and then repeats until the copy is completed. Since it does
asynchronous
block-copying, it is much faster than Finder-dragging.

Version 2.4 has many bugfixes (See the "Version Audit" section of the Docs for
details) and a few improvements.

- The cursors, sounds, mouse & keyboard handling has been standardized and
is now
uniform across all dialogs & alerts.

- A new client-side ejection test has been added for those drive/system setups
that just can't seem to get their media to eject.

v2.4 will is still freeware. For minor updates, check out CopyThru's Home Page

Subject: [*] Default Folder 2.7.1d

This is the German version of Default Folder, a shareware control panel
that enhances Open and Save dialog boxes to make it easier for you to
manage files on your Macintosh. Special thanks go to Christoph Sahm for
his work in localizing Default Folder. Please place this alongside the
English version already in the archives.

Default Folder provides many of the essential features of the commercial
SuperBoomerang and Directory Assistance utilities, but without the
infrequently used extras that take their toll in compatibility, memory, and
CPU usage. Its time-saving Open and Save dialog enhancements allow you to:

- Set up a default folder for any or all applications.
- Switch among recently used folders from a pop-up menu.
- See available disk space and switch between disks from a pop-up menu.
- Click on a Finder window to display it in an Open or Save dialog.
- Open the folder shown in an Open or Save dialog in the Finder.
- Create folders, get information (including changing name, type, and
creator), and move items to the Trash from within file dialogs.
- "Rebound" back to the last file you used.
- Make "Replace" the default option instead of "Cancel" when saving
a file with the same name as an existing file.
- Speed up the display of Open and Save dialogs by turning off custom
color icons in the file list.

Default Folder will operate on any Macintosh running System 7 or higher,
and is accelerated for PowerPC. In addition to the standard internet
archives, information and updates are available at:

         <http://www.stclairsw.com/>

Default Folder may be included on the UMich and Info-Mac CD-ROMs.

Subject: [*] Fast Font Menu 1.1.1J - Japanese Version

This is the Japanese version of the Fast Font Menu extension package.

FastFontMenu is a System Extension (INIT) which speeds up the building of the
Font Menu in most applications. It does this by sorting the font names in an
internal array, rather than insertion sorting them in the menu the way the
current MacOS does. This improved algorithm is scheduled to be included in a
future version of the MacOS, but since that'll take longer to ship, I'm
releasing
it now as freeware. It's scheduled to expire with version 7.7 of the MacOS. If
the fix isn't in the system at that point, I'll release a new version, but I'd
really rather have this fixed by the OS than by me. I have no idea what the
picture is going to look like for MacOS:The NeXT Generation, but hopefully this
sort of kludge won't be needed.

FastFontMenu 1.1 adds caching. This has two benefits. The first is that it'll be
MUCH faster for every font menu after the first, as long as your fonts haven't
changed (applications that have fonts in their resource forks will clobber the
caching, but they've been warned about that by Apple's Developer Support
for more
than five years). The second benefit is that after the first time, the memory
requirements of FFM are much smaller. If you were seeing problems in a control
panel or desk accessory, you should no longer see them as long as you've run an
application that builds a font menu first. Ideally, this first pass at the menu
would be built at startup time, and that's something I'm looking at for 1.2.

Version History:

1.1.1 - Use SetMenuItemText to set font name in menu, instead of
AppendMenu. This
avoid problems with fonts containing slashes and other special characters. In my
opinion, these fonts are broken, but nonetheless it causes problems.

Subject: [*] FormDrop WWW v1.0.2

FormDrop WWW v1.0.2 (This update should replace FormDrop WWW v1.0)

FormDrop WWW v1.0.2 Fixes a bug which caused FormDrop to not
implement drag-and-drop on some macs.

On The World Wide Web, forms can be used to send information when
one is at a web site. If you have a web page which uses forms, when people
visit your site and use the forms, the data is sent to you as an e-mail
attachment. This file, if opened in a text editor will look like one long
line of garbled letters, numbers, and words.
FormDrop WWW is a simple drag-and-drop utility to translate the
output files of forms from the Web into readable text documents that can be
opened with SimpleText.

To Use:
Drag and drop any World Wide Web form output text file onto
FormDrop WWW. The program will create a decoded file with "(Decoded)"
appended to its name. You may also drop multiple form files onto FormDrop
WWW and it will decode all of them.

Subject: [*] MacKitty(tm) V1.0

Enclosed is a demo version of MacKitty(tm), a pedigree database
management program for cat breeders. The demo version is only different
from the regular version in that you cannot save your changes. The demo
comes with the program itself, a sample data file, the user manual, the
demo license agreement, and an order form for the full program.

The program requires System 7.x and comes as a FAT version optimized for
both 68K and PPC architectures.

Below is a short excerpt from the manual introduction:

MacKitty is a Macintosh program for the serious breeder of pedigreed
cats. It is a program primarily for the maintenance of pedigree
information on all of the cats in a cattery. Some of the information in
the database includes name, awards, common name, breed, color,
registration number, date of birth, and sire's and dam's names. An
unlimited number of cats may be entered into the database limited only
by the available memory in your computer. This program uses many of the
Mac user interface features that Mac users have come to love and
expect... Complete 3 and 5 generation pedigrees may be generated and
displayed to the screen and/or printed.

Subject: [*] Manic Minefields 1.1

REQUIREMENTS
Computer: A MacOS compatible computer with a PowerPC processor.
Colors: Thousands (15bits) or millions (24bits).

WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 1.1
Version 1.0 crashed on a lot of Mac models, but we have now fixed those
problems.
We have solved all the bugs that were reported. To make it worth your while, we
have also reduced the time the "unregistered" alert is shown, from 6
seconds down
to 2 seconds.

THE GAME
Manic Minefields is really 10 (!) different minesweeper games in one program,
each with its own unique set of graphics, sounds, special rules, game plot and
hiscore tables.

In the unregistered version you only get to play 2 of the 10 games, but that's
more than you get in the registered version of any other minesweeper game on the
market.

You might have played a game called 'MineSweeper' (MicroSoft), 'Landmines'
(Atari Corp), or anything else with the word 'sweeper' or 'mine' in it. Then you
probably know how to play, since the rules of those games and Manic Minefields
are very similar.

COPYRIGHT NOTE
Manic Minefields is copyright 1997 Addiction Software HB, but you are allowed to
put the unregistered version of the game on any media you like, including CD-ROM
and FTP etc.

a click on a tile. You can also tell another application to quit, or hide a tile
from view. The tiles appear in a window which you can place anywhere.

The great thing about TileSwitcher is what I would call elegance. For example,
when you place the tiles in a corner, they stay in that corner, no matter
how you
change the resolution of your monitors or move your multiple displays around.

WWWTimer traces the amount of telephone charges, but yet only for the german
"Telekom"! It is already configured to run, and recognizes all of the official
german holidays. All you have to do is to switch to the appropriate "Tarifzone".
A detailed documentation in german is included.

Requires: System 7 or later Problems: None
