Subject: [*] abstract for Goliath_0.5_Installer.hqx

Goliath allows remote creation and editing of documents on Web sites. It
employs a technology called WebDAV (also found in Microsoft Office 2000 and
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 for Windows) that can make changes to the
files on Web servers that understand WebDAV. With Goliath, you can view the
contents of a Web site in a Finder-like fashion (including file size,
modification date, and type), upload new files, create new folders, delete
files and folders, and rename files on a Web server. Additionally, you can
download copies of files on a Web server using drag and drop, including
delete by dragging to the Trash. This latest version features Lock/Unlock
functionality, a new preferences dialog, a mechanism to allow users to
specify URL parameters when downloading items via HTTP GET from a WebServer,
several UI enhancements, and online help. Goliath is distributed under the
GNU GPL and is free software. More information and source code can be found
at http://www.webdav.org/goliath. This program requires a PowerPC and MacOS
8.5 or greater.

Subject: [*] Apple 56K int. modem scripts

These are modem (CCL) scripts for the Apple 56K internal modem.
They should be tried by anyone with this model of modem.
The reasons are:
1: Should improve throughput on all connections above 28.8Kbps.
2: Will fix certain problems of compatibility with 3Com digital (ISP) modems.
3: Captures most of the diagnostic information of the &v1 command.
4: Avoids the lack of guard time on the + + + escape sequence.
5: More detail to the Activity Log.

Subject: [*] Audiocorder 1.8.0

Audiocorder is a VOX program which allows your Mac to act as an audio
recorder. It allows you to set the volume that the sound must reach to
begin recording, and the volume at which it should end recording. It also
allows you to set the trigger length for the start and stop values, which
helps you to eliminate recording short bursts of sound or ending the
recording process during a short pause (such as in normal speach).

A start and stop button allow manual recording. In addition, you can create
a schedule for up to 50 recordings, specifying the time and date each
recording should start and stop, much like a VCR. This makes Audiocorder
perfect for automated recording from many sources.

Each sound file is stored in AIFF format, a Macintosh standard sound
format. The audio can be sampled at 11, 22, 44 kHz, with a sample size of 8
or 16 bits, either monophonic or stereo. The name of each file contains the
date and time (down to seconds) the recording began.

Audiocorder is used in a wide variety of applications, including digitizing
LPs and tapes, recording animals and other natural sounds, and automated
recording of radio transmissions.

Hang2000 v1.7.1 Released!

<URL:http://www.winograd.com>

Merrimack, New Hampshire, April 2, 2000: Ken Winograd and
Space-Time Associates announced today the release of
version 1.7.1 of a fun Macintosh shareware game called
Hang2000. Hang2000 is a new take on the classic hangman
word guessing game we all played when we were kids.
It features colorful, non-violent graphics, digitized sounds,
synthesized speech, dozens of built-in word categories,
thousands of words, unlimited lists of your own words,
and much more.

Hang2000 is "secretly educational". It's played for fun,
but you can't help learning. Included in Hang2000 is a
new "knowledge area". This area will include
information associated with the guessed word or phrase.
If the word chosen is from the States or Countries
category, for example, the knowledge area will show the
capital of the State or Country. If the category is Authors
or Composers, the knowledge area will show facts about, or
famous works of, the author or composer. You can also
make your own lists (unlimited in number) and include
your own associated information.

There are dozens of categories, guaranteed to include
something for everyone. From Monsters and Dinosaurs to
Star Trek and Television Shows, from Animals and Birds
to Colors and Cities, from Fruits and Vegetables to
Presidents and Vice-Presidents, from Rock and Roll to
Opera and Musical Instruments. And literally dozens more!

Hang2000 includes Multi-Level Winning Streak Score Boards,
allowing students and family members alike to keep track
of winning streaks. Separate score boards are kept for each
difficulty level, so users can compete against users
choosing the same difficulty level.

Hang2000 also offers full support for what's often known
as "accented characters". Hang2000 supports the entry and
display of words in many languages, including Danish,
Dutch, English, Finnish, Flemish, French, German, Italian,
Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. Hang2000 makes learning
vocabulary more fun than ever before.

Version 1.7.1 of Hang2000 corrects a spelling error in the
Musical Instruments category and adds the current winners
to the Best Actors, Best Actresses, and Best Pictures

iOrganize is a multipurpose application ($15 Shareware), aimed at replacing
the MacOS NotePad. 3 modules are included :

- NotePad : this first module corresponds to the original idea of iOrganize.
It is aimed at being an improved substitute for the MacOS NotePad. The
NotePad allows you to organize your notes in several categories, with a
clean and efficient user interface. Of course, it is possible to import your
old NotePad file to smooth the transition. The NotePad can also be useful to
store email or web adresses, as it is able to use them directly, being
linked to your Internet applications.

- ContactPad : you are looking for an easy to use address book ? ContactPad
is what you were looking for ! Featuring some useful features such as
Internet links, it should allow you to store easily everything you need !

- AliasPad : Its goal is to organize your files without having to worry
about their physical location in your disks. The AliasPad is able to track
your files even if you move or rename them, in the same way Finder aliases
are working, but you can store as many "aliases" as you want in the
AliasPad, without having to multiply the number of file on your desktop ! It
can be useful as an application launcher, a small MP3 playlist, or to
organize your files by file type or on the contrary by project, without
having to regroup them on your disk.

Requirements :
    - PowerPC only
    - MacOS 7.1 or +. Takes advantage of MacOS 8 and 9 features.

iOrganize can be freely distributed (including on CD-Roms) as long as the

The Mac-FTP-list lists over 150 mac anonymous ftp sites (some with notes),
over 110 Mac web pages, and contains some instructions on how to use anonymous
ftp and find files as well a format chart showing which programs decompress
and decode which files. Also there is a section on how to use certain files.

This Stuffit Deluxe 5.0 archive contains both the text and html versions of
the Mac-FTP-list.

To ensure that the columns in the Format Chart section line up correctly the
document's text must be in a monospaced font such as Courier 10pt, Monaco 9pt,
or a PC equivalent.

Changes: Format chart updated;
http://www.ameritel.net/lusers/abrody/mac.html moved to
http://www.index-site.com/mac.htm; sunsite.unc.edu moved into 'These sites
have just a few mac files' section;

MACAddy (tm) is a two-part system that is based on a client and server
application.

What is it for?

I made this application so that I could monitor my network traffic and
could make sure that the users didn't change their ip address as I could
use their MAC address and cross-reference the addresses. I find it
useful, you may not, it was just a way for me to gather info without
having to go to 200 machines and get it myself when I could have the
user run it for me and save us both a lot of time.

Based on an article in the Computer Music Journal.
Plots a 3d waveform of a one-second sound file.
Pure tones like sines and triangles make regular shapes, complex tones make
squiggles, and noise will make chaotic jitters.
SoundEmbedder is freeware. Requires PPC. Its slow and probably crashes G4's
because signal processing ins't fully compatible yet. Works great on G3's.

Subject: [*] submission of "BOOM-12-final.hqx"

BOOM 1.2 (final release)

What's BOOM?
BOOM is an arcade game in the grand tradition, bringing the
playability and feel of the glorious 8-bit consoles on the Macintosh.
It can be described as "Bomberman meets Doom". Actually, I took the
basic Bomberman idea and dropped it in a "Super-Deformed Doom"
scenario (whatever this means).
If you don't know what Bomberman and Doom are, definitely you've
never played a computer game. This is the right time to start.

BOOM's main features are:
* Smooth sprite based animations in 256 colors
* 8 different soundtracks and multi-channel sound effects
* Simultaneous two players action
* 80 different levels
* 10 different enemy characters varying in intelligence and weaponry
* Mid-game monsters and a final Super Boss

System Requirements
PowerPC processor;
5.5 MBytes free memory;
Mac OS 7.0.1 or later;
640x480 or larger monitor supporting 256 colors;
Sound Manager 3.0 or later.

Recommended Configuration
Mac OS 8.1 or later;
Sound Manager 3.2 or later;
InputSprocket 1.1 or later.

Version history

1.2 (final release - April, 2000)
     * Fixed a bug that caused the game to quit with a type 12 error
at startup if the Control Strip was not installed.
     * Now the Control Strip is shown at quit (or when the game is
suspended) only if it was hidden by the game application.
     * Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash at startup on Mac OS
version prior to 8.5 if the Internet Config Extension was not
installed.
     * Adjusted the size of some dialog items to avoid text being cut
when using a system font different from Charcoal.
     * Now the save game feature is unlocked immediately when a valid
registration code is entered (no need to quit and restart the game).
     * On saved games the teleporters link order was reversed. Fixed.
     * Removed some useless 68k code resources.

Subject: [*] Synk 2.6.0

Synk 2.6.0
----------
Synk is a popular backup and synchronization program that can resolve
aliases and archive old files. It runs on all Macintoshes except Mac
Plus, Classic and PowerBook 100. Even though Synk 3 has been
released, this version will remain available for those not running
Mac OS 8 on a PowerPC computer.

You can backup a folder full of aliases, making it simple to modify
your backup or synchronization strategy by dropping file or folder
aliases into the defined folder. It is just as easy to distribute
synchronized files throughout a PowerBook's hard drive by
synchronizing two folders containing aliases. Any number of file
types, creators and file endings may be skipped. Obsolete files and
folders can be archived into a folder.

Other features include:
- complete log of actions (now unlimited in length)
- obsolete files can be deleted, trashed or archived
- collisions are conveniently placed in a folder on the Desktop

Synk 2 is US $15 shareware, see registration documents for details.
Upgrades from previous version of Synk are free to registered users.
Synk 3 is recommended for those running Mac OS 8 and a PowerPC
Macintosh.

Version History
--------------
2.6.0
- fixed drag and drop bug
- updated documentation
- removed PowerPC code to make it smaller
- now can register via Kagi
- released simultaneously with Synk 3 to support machines with OS 7
and 680x0 processors (this will be the final release of version 2,
but upgrades are free :-)

the file for you translating it to the format required to burn a cd

I am the proud owner of an older PowerBook (190cs) with a 68K processor. It
does everything I want it to do, and I don't want to upgrade to a PPC. As
of 1/1/2000, I can no longer make secure transactions with Internet Explorer
4.0 because my "security certificates" expired, and cannnot upgrade to a
more modern version of IE with new security cerficates because I lack a PPC
processor.

I have spent hours trying to find a work-around. Even the Wall Street
Journal's Walter Mossberg, no less, said I would have to buy a new Mac.
But, during my searches, I found the following message in your wonderful
