Subject: [*] ANEMIA

The accompanying file is a Hypercard stack that requires Hypercard
version 2.+ and a color capable Macintosh. It has been checked with SAM
4.0.8.

This stack describes an old-fashioned, but still useful approach,
to reaching a correct diagnosis in a patient with anemia. The method
depends primarily upon red cell morphology and evaluation of the blood
smear. Included are ten representative cases which the viewer can diagnose
by requesting those laboratory studies he/she desires; a record of the cost
of the requested studies is kept and can be compared with the lowest
possible cost; this figure can be considered the viewers "grade" for the
test.

This file could be included under EDUCATION, BLOOD, HEMATOLOGY or

Subject: [*] CISExport

The reason I wrote CISExport is because I'm dropping Compuserve, and I need my
address bookin another program. If I get enough postcards then I'll drop them
on
compuserve head office desk, just to show them that they ought to be bucking
their ideas up. At least making an attempt to give their mail some of the
features that less expensive services have, not to mention bringing their
charges
in line with otherinternet providers. My condolences to any body who upgraded
to
their new mail service only to find it slower than the old one, that half the
mail was being lost, the other half was being sent in triplicate and of course
after all that being toldthat it was impossible to go back to the older
reliable
service.

That's my grouch, in a consumer society where only good suppliers survive, they
shouldn't unless they change.

The application's pretty minimalist in design but gets the job done.
Run it and you'll be prompted to find your compuserve address book.
You'll then be prompted for a filename and place to save the results.
It does it and quits, not an about box or menu in sight.

Subject: [*] CopyPaste 3.3J - Japanese Version

This is the Japanese version of the CopyPaste package

One of the early wonders of the Mac was its revolutionary ability to do
copy and paste across various applications. Unlike other areas in the
Mac's system software that have changed and progressed over the years,
copying and pasting has not evolved. How many times have you found
yourself going back and forth copying in one application and pasting in
a different application, wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10
items at a time, then go to another application and paste each of these
items. Now you can with a vengence!

Drop CopyPaste on top of the System Folder and it will tell you it
wants to go into the Extension Folder, hit OK. Restart.

CopyPaste magnifies the clipboard in different ways. We call these:

* Clip Extender - gives 10 easy to access clipboards via menu or key
command.
* Clip Recorder - remembers the last 10 items copied via command c.
* Clip Archive - copied data is appended to one of 10 text files on
disk.
* Save Clipbords thru Restarts - allows all 10 Clipbords to be saved
thru Shutdown or Restart.
* Clip Sets - Sets of 10 clipboards can be loaded and saved to disk.
Various Clip Sets can be created for different tasks. Clip Sets can
also be sent to other CopyPaste users for them to load and use.
* Tag and Drop - selected text can be copied to a different location
with a single mouseclick.
* CopyPaste Palette - a floating window that allows you to view/use
the 10 clipboards in Clip Extender and in Clip Recorder.
* CopyPaste Utilities - there are text utilities, picture utilities and
date and time utilities.
* Application Switcher lets you switch between running applications to
copy and paste accross them.
* Clipboard Viewer - lets you view the content of your clipboards. It
displays the text or the picture or it plays the sound.

CopyPaste eliminates tedious repetitive work and increases your ability
to get the job done.

The Foating Palette and the Clipboard Viewer require at least System
7.1!

Cryptix is a computer version of the "Crypto-Quotes" puzzles

"Hello, how are you today?" may be shown as "MQVVA, MAX SNQ EAP
LABSE?" It is your job to figure out which each letter means.

Cryptix 1.1 requires a 68020 processor or better (Macintosh II or
better), System 7.0 or newer, 384K or more RAM, and about 825K of
disk space. Cryptix is fat binary so it runs natively on both
PowerPC and 68K Macintoshes. Version 1.1.1 adds many new features

Subject: [*] Danimal's Textures, Volume 3

Here are 75 more striking and original desktop textures for the Mac, for
use with the Desktop Textures program. Volume 1 contained 100 patterns,
and Volume 2 featured 50 more, all original. If you like these and want
to check out Volumes 1 and 2 also, check out my web page at
http://private.fuller.edu/~danimal.

If you've already seen Danimal's Textures Voumes 1 and 2, you'll notice
these look a little different -- more organic, or something. All of
these were made with a nifty little program called Alien Skin
Textureshop. As with my previous texture sets, you'll notice that I tend
to favor blues and greens (OK, lots of greens in this volume). I really
hope you like the results -- no fewer than 75 more striking background
patterns for your Macintosh desktop. Some could even be used as web page
backgrounds, although most probably have too great a difference in contrast.

Anyway, ENJOY! These patterns are totally free, use them as you like --
all I ask for is a little feedback. Drop me an email and tell me what you
think of them, where you found them, that sort of thing. And if you
REALLY want to make my day, you can also visit the home of these textures
on my web page, The Den Of The Danimal, at the address below. You'll also
be able to find a bunch of other interesting stuff on my web pages, so
check 'em out!

Subject: [*] DiskTracker 1.1.1

DiskTracker is an extremely powerful and flexible disk cataloging and
management
system. It combines a huge feature set with a really easy to use Mac-like
interface. With DiskTracker, you can quickly and easily create a catalog of
every file on every one of your floppy disks, hard drives, CD-ROMs, optical
drives, servers, or whatever. Naturally, DiskTracker can read into StuffIt and
Compact Pro archives and self-expanding applications.

After scanning your disks, you can then search the catalog at unbelievable
speeds
with the powerful searching facility (including multi-parameter and duplicate
file searching). You can easily create professional looking disk labels
with the
built in disk labeling facility and label template designer.

Features include:
* View the contents of scanned volumes in a familiar easy-to-use
System-7-style file list.
* Built in (fast!) virtual memory scheme ensures that you won't run out
of memory, even when scanning huge volumes and CD-ROMs with only 600K
of allocated RAM!
* Intelligent disk scanner can operate in the background and allows
either scans of online volumes and servers or floppy disks (insert
disks one at a time to scan them).
* Launch files directly from the program, or have the finder display them for
you.
* Fast, multi-parameter (use AND, OR, or XOR) searches. Search on almost
20 different criteria!
* Really powerful disk labeling system allows completely automated disk
label production.
* Plus much, much, much more!

DiskTracker requires System 7.0 or later and at least 700K of available
memory.

Changes in 1.1.1:
* Crashing bug when printing labels fixed.
* Change disk serial number now works correctly for non-conflicting
serial numbers.
* User's can now choose whether to have the disk scanner scan physical
or logical file sizes.
* Bug where temporary file isn't always deleted fixed.
* Multiple redraw glitch with resizing window fixed.
* Minor redraw glitch with greyscale 3D buttons fixed.

And, be sure to visit the official DiskTracker web page at

Subject: [*] SerialControl 0.01b

"SerialControl" is application and hardware device to control external devices
using Macintosh through serial port of Macintosh.

It is really hard to interface something to Macintosh unlike old Apple II or
IBM-PC. The slot of AppleII and ISA(or EISA) of IBM-PC(or compatible) has
relatively simple structure and protocol. Currently PCI bus or direct slot of
Macintosh is too complex for personal hobbyist to interface something like ADC,
DAC, digital port. "SerialControl" might solve this problem somewhat.
"SerialControl" is application(including sources) and hardware device(to make
by
yourself). It uses serial port and provides 8 TTL outputs and 8 TTL inputs with
current circuit, but you can easily expand to interface to other device like
ADC
or DAC.

You require special LSI CY233 from Cybernetic Micro Systems. Actually, CY233 is
powerful LSI for serial-parallel conversion and network. "SerialControl" just
utilizes one of its operation modes. Only demerit of this LSI is price. The
price
is $45 each(16$ per 1000) except S/H. Foreigner may pay more.

This "SerialControl" is absolutely freeware. You can use this circuit, source,
and application for your personal use(absolutely not for commercial use). If
you
are going to include in CD, magazine, FTP server, or web server(except Info-Mac
archives and its mirror server), please let me know.

If you have any questions, advice, comments, or corrections, please let me
know.
I'll really appreciate. Here is information about me.

Subject: [*] Sound Volume Adjusters

Here are 16 little fat binary applications whose sole purpose in life is to
change the speaker volume on your mac. Eight of them change the default
sound output volume, eight of them change the alert sound volume. Sure, you
could do the same thing with applescript, but these are much faster and
smaller. Sound Manager 3.0 or greater is required to run these.

Here's some suggestions for what to do with them:
a. Put them in a folder within your Apple Menu Items folder, so that you
can change sound and alert volumes without opening the sound control panel.

b. To make your startup chime very quiet, put the file "set sound vol 0" --
or an alias to it -- into your shutdown items folder. Put another file, say
"set sound vol 5", into the startup items folder to set the sound volume of
your mac after the chime plays.

These are free and may be freely distributed, provided they are not altered
and this Read me file is distributed with them. They may be put on
commercial CDs, provided I am credited.

Subject: [*] Super Comments 2.0.8

Super Comments 2.0.8 is a shareware control panel, which enables your Macintosh
to keep the Finder Get Info comments from being erased when the desktop is
rebuilt. It also permits them to be viewed in the open file dialogs and
edited in the save file dialogs. Super Comments 2.0.8 supersedes
CommentKeeper and all
commercial versions of Super Comments.

Super Comments 2.0.8 no longer attempts to preserve the Get Info comments under
MacOS versions 7.5.3 and later, which already have this capability built-in.

Try out Super Comments for thirty days for free. Super Comments is not crippled
in any way, requires no serial number to run, and doesn't post any registration
reminders. However, if you like it, please pay the shareware fee of $10 (US).
Registered users of any version of Atticus Super 7 Utilities or Super Comments
2.0.7 are not required to pay or re-register.

Web surfers, check out the Flux Software web page at http://www.fluxsoft.com/.

Subject: [*] The Gray Council 2.1

Enclosed is version 2.1 of The Gray Council. This version is in sync with
CodeWarrior 11 and the versions of MacApp (3.3.3 & r12) and PowerPlant
(1.6) that
come with CW11, adds view palettes for AdLib, and implements a number of bug
fixes and user requests.

The Gray Council C++ classes provide the premiere implementation of the "Apple
Grayscale Appearance for System 7." This is Apple's recommended grayscale user
interface design for today's applications, consistent with the future
Appearance
Manager default theme.

For programmers using the MacApp and PowerPlant application frameworks, The
Gray
Council includes framework "adapter" classes that provide easy "drop-in"
grayscale appearance support.

The Gray Council implements the complete set of controls defined by the Apple
Grayscale Appearance specification, including: push buttons, check boxes, radio
buttons, icon "bevel" buttons, scroll bars, sliders, popup menus, little
arrows,
disclosure triangles, progress indicators, group boxes, tab panels (aka tabbed
dialogs), separators, gray window backgrounds, and view border frames.

For use in publicly distributed shareware or freeware titles, you may use the
Gray Council for free. For commercial or in-house developer use, there is a $10
per developer or $100 site license fee paid via Kagi Shareware. Details are in
the documentation.
